Is this happiness?

My husband and I are excited to be expecting our first baby in a few weeks time. In preparation, my wonderful husband booked us in for some parenting classes. While right now I still can’t think beyond the birth part, the classes have given brilliant and, even surprising insights, into life, clear and effective communication, team work and leadership.

Deb, our parenting teacher, gives us bonus insights that aren’t in the parenting book including her perspective (from Todd Bodett) on what we need to be happy.

This got me thinking, how are we getting each of these in our current circumstances? Many of us are limited in some way of doing things we love or seeing people we love. A lot of the things we normally do, plans we have had, are now changed or have ‘pivoted’ and things we look forward to like holidays or celebrations now look a little different.

The three things we need to be happy gave me some comfort. Instead of worrying about when things will get back to normal, how long will it take etc., it gave me an access to be grateful for what I have right now and find happiness in different things.

Do you agree? What do you need to be happy?
