Everyday Leadership

Leadership is often thought of as having an impressive title like CEO, General Manager or Founder or decades of experience. That’s certainly what I thought leadership was as a student and when I started working.

Leadership actually is more everyday rather than a fancy title.

Leadership can be everyday, small, courageous actions and anyone can take them. It doesn't matter what your title is or what you do for work, you can be a leader moment by moment in your life.

Leadership doesn't have to stay at work or on the football field. You could be a leader in your relationship, your marriage or your family. Being a leader when you don't have the title or the reason to is even more courageous.

Leadership is

  • Standing up for something important to you

  • Sharing your perspective without fear of judgement

  • Supporting a colleague and putting them forward for a role or position

  • Taking charge of caring for an elderly parent

  • Acknowledging mistakes with your children

  • Taking action on idea you have and making it happen

What is one action you can choose to take today that is an everyday act of leadership?

This 6 minute TED Talk really says it all when it comes to everyday leadership!
